Enclosed Porch Makeover Intro

Welcome to what could be my biggest project yet!

Covered Patio Makeover copy

I am so excited to get this area looking pretty! It has always been that area of our house that I have just ignored, but it is the first thing people see when they come to our house! It was in need of some serious help!

before1before3before2

Nasty brown walls with the trim painted the same color and THE WORST tile ever created. This color makes me want to vomit! I have some major plans for all of this! My first project… taking down all of the baseboards and the one strip of molding there was.

duringbb1duringbb2duringbb3

This was one of the more disgusting things I have ever done. There were families of earwigs that went to die behind my baseboards, big, gaping holes behind it with spider nests, dirt, and who knows what else. I would like to pretend I was really brave and tough about it, but it was not an easy task! Not to mention I may or may not have used a few naughty words in my brain when I was cussing out the person who put this trim up with the longest nails in history and in some places caulking the crap out of the back of it. It was a learning experience to take it off!

Next, I did a lot of foam spraying and hole filling. After the foam dried, I cut off all of the excess with a knife. I know that this is going to help my house stay warm and cool and also keep nasty critters out of my house!

There is a lot more to come. I can’t wait to tell you about paint colors, inspiration, and learning experiences!

You might be a DIYer if…

I have taken on a pretty giant project around here. I am excited to fill you in on the details about it, but for now you get a little insight from me.

You might be a DIYer if…

1. You paint in a nasty t-shirt, pajama bottoms (preferably snowflake ones when the temp is 75 outside), and flip flops.

ffachallenge4

2. If you can’t seem to take a serious photo while sniffing paint fumes.

3. If you have ever had the UPS man come while you are in your DIY “uniform”. This happened today. Don’t worry, I owned it.

4. If your hair looks like you just rolled out of bed, then you hurry and try to pull it back up for a picture, then look at the picture only to realize not much has changed.

ffachallenge3

5. If you pull out the old glasses from 6th grade while you paint and think, “Hey! This is protective eyewear, right?”

6. If you look no older than 13 years old when you DIY.

ffachallenge2

7. If every, single one of your pajama tops and bottoms have paint on them.

8. If you spontaneously hold up paint brushes and give a cheeser.

ffachallenge1

9. If you think to yourself, I know “famous” DIYers out there don’t look like this when they work. Newsflash. They totally do!

10. And last but not least, you might be a DIYer if you scrub and scrub in the shower, but still have paint in places you would rather not talk about.

I hope you all feel a little sense of pride today knowing you look fancier than I do! Share your DIY outfit with Mandi from Vintage Revivals too!

Door Turned into Shelf!

doorshelfcover
Let me given a little backstory… A while back, Dave and I went through a “picker” phase. We would go on Craigslist and try to find treasures that we couldn’t live without. I found the cutest old door that I could not live without! When we bought our house, I was so excited to find a home for my door. This was the best I could come up with though…
family living room3
Not great. Matters got worse when I had a visitor with a little boy. He tried to open the door and it started to fall on top of him. Luckily, I didn’t have kids yet. As soon as Harper started growing in my tummy, I started brewing ideas of what to do with my door. I told Dave all about this shelf that I wanted made out of our door. I think he thought I was a little nutty, but one day, long after mentioning my shelf idea, I came home to this in the garage.
doorshelf1
First of all, isn’t it the cutest that he put a wreath on it and put pictures on the shelves so that I could get the “vision”? He waited to paint it until he got the ok for what color to paint it.
doorshelf2
He filled in the nail holes.
doorshelf3
We primed it.
doorshelf4
Then painted it! I couldn’t wait to decorate it.

I love that I now have a space to do my seasonal vignettes too! My favorite part? The doorknob!

Do you love this as much as I do?

Girl Loves 5 {blog design edition}

It is probably fairly obvious to you that I got a make over… well my blog did at least. I need one of those too someday! I love it so much, I knew I just needed to base the 5 things I love this week, strictly on my new blog design!

#1 The color scheme- I mean, could you die?! I love these colors so much! It is fresh and even a little airy, while still being bold! I love it.

#2 Chevron and stripes- Hello! Both? Could the world get any greater than this?

#3 Social Media Buttons- I can’t even tell you how happy I am to have these and the email subscribe up now. I was going to do them myself, but It is SO much easier to have someone else do it!

#4 733 design- This lady is one patient girl! She was the mastermind behind all of the design. I thought I had pretty good direction of how I wanted it to look, but I didn’t as much as I thought! She was able to work with my picky requests. I even discovered that I may or may not be a small font snob! Who knew!?

#5 Mindy Bruce- This cute girl, was one of the first people I met at Snap. She had a brand, spankin’ new blog and she was getting her blog design done. She is who sent me to 733 and told me how reasonably priced she is! Go visit Mindy’s cute blog as a thank you for me!

How many of you are loving the new design! Oh, and let us not forget that today is Dave’s last day of teaching school for the year! Let my Summer begin!

Product I Love: Scentsy Dryer Bars

scentsydryer

I got one of these magic boxes at the Snap conference. I was excited to try a new product by Scentsy, but was a little iffy about how they would do when it came to laundry. Well, they did it right! These things are awesome!

All you do, is put a bar into your dryer and let it make all of your clothes smell divine! Dave loves it, because our dryer vent goes out to our garage and the dryer bar makes our garage smell like heaven! Right now, I feel like most of my laundry has spit up or baby poop on it, but these make it so you can’t smell any trace of it!

One of my sponsors is a Scentsy consultant, and she currently has a party open so you can order one of these from her! You won’t regret it!

I was NOT given this product by my sponsor. This is my real opinion. I love these things!
